LEARN MORE, DO MORE
a blog about elementary school teaching and learning

This is a "just about everything that related to elementary education" blog (and other resources, too!). My passions include: ed-tech tools, math, writing, NGSS, social-emotional learning, students with special needs, access and equity for all students, collaborative learning for teachers, and a ton more. I encourage teachers to make decisions that put students first.

My Favorite Twitter Chats
Twitter Chats (a.k.a a conversation in the staff lounge with a worldwide PLN)
If you love finding great ideas and amazing resources on Twitter, you should definitely take your PLN to the next level by taking part in a special Twitter conversation called a Twitter Chat.
The video below is an excellent tool for learning how to use Twitter and Twitter chats. (The Twitter chat portion begins at 4:45, so if you're already familiar Twitter, you can jump right to that point.)
There is an incredible Google Site out there that tries to list every single education-related Twitter chat. (Click on the image below to take you to the site). However, I would feel guilty if I didn't warn you that you'll probably only make it about 50 lines down before everything starts to blur together and you won't even be able to remember what you were searching for.
Now if you're procrastinating on grading papers, or writing sub plans, or whatever part of your job you want to avoid for a while, be my guest and explore as many on the list as you'd like.
But if you're super busy and need somewhere to start, check out some of my favorites.

#MSFTEduChat (which does not appear to be on the exhaustive list above!)

Here's other ones that are on my bucket list:
#ditchbook
#edtechmath
#edutopiachat
#elemchat
#ISNchat (Interactive Science Notebook chat)
#flipclass (Flipped Classroom chat)
#makerED
#reflectiveteacher
#sblchat (Standards Based Learning chat, aka Standards Based Grading)
#elngsschat (Elementary NGSS chat)
#atplc (All Things PLC)
#elemmathchat
#badgechatK12 (Digital Badges chat)
#tlap (Teach Like a Pirate)
Now, with all of these amazing Twitter chats happening, let me clue you in on a little secret... I don't remember when each of these chats are. And chances are, even if I DID remember, it's pretty rare that I don't have anything else happening at that exact same time that I would want to be responding and interacting with others in the Twitter chat.
Here's the secret. FIND OUT WHO THE MODERATORS ARE. FOLLOW THEM.
So now when you're scrolling through, their questions will show up in your Twitter feed! It's the perfect reminder! Plus, even if you see it a few hours later (or even a few days later), you'll still be able to see what everyone else wrote, ... AND you can still contribute to the conversation too!
